SustainFloyd to Host “Breakfast at the Market”
Saturday, September 11th at Floyd Farmers Market
SustainFloyd and the Floyd Farmers Market will host the first annual “Breakfast at the Market” Saturday September 11th to help kick-off the Harvest Festival and County Fair held that same day.The event, held under the Floyd Community Market Pavilion in downtown Floyd, will feature local ingredients from area farms and will be catered by Floyd favorite Natasha’s Market Café. Floyd singer/songwriter Ben Kirkland will entertain diners with acoustic music during the breakfast.This year’s entrance fee of $8 ($4.50 for children 11 and under) will buy a breakfast with choices of blueberry pancakes, local eggs, meats, vegetables, breads and fruits and any profits will support the Community Market. Red Rooster Coffee Roasting Company and Blackwater Loft will supply their gourmet brew.Every Saturday morning throughout the season, the market draws shoppers interested in local, sustainably produced vegetables and meat products. Local florists, cheese makers, bakers and wildcrafters also sell their wares. In addition, each Friday evening the Community Market hosts the Artisans Market full of the best local crafters in the area.Breakfast Saturday begins with a first seating between 8:30 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. followed by a second session from 9:45 a.m. until 11 a.m.The breakfast will be followed by the Harvest Festival and County Fair also being held in downtown Floyd this year from 10 a.m.- 4p.m. The Festival is free of charge.Tickets for the breakfast are available at the Floyd Country Store, Harvest Moon, Floyd
